For this production I was working as Technical Stage Manager on book. This role has seen me create a prompt copy and operate Sound, Lighting, and Video including creative captions. As well as create key rehearsal and show documentation, as well as other documentation such as risk assessments and technical schedules. It has also seen me be the Technical point of contact between VAULT festival and the production. I assisted with the Get in of this production each night and the smooth running of the entire production process.

I join this process on tech day and my main duty is to work alongside the director and the technical team to make a basic promo script with cues for lighting, sound, and curtains. I also assist with the get in and strikes for all departments of the production. However, mainly assisting with lighting and sound.

This was my first professional role since graduating and saw me call the 40 performances as well as work closely with the Creative team, cast and crew during rehearsals. I also assisted the crew with the get in and get out of the production's props and scenery and furtherly assisting with the strike and prep of costumes.

This opportunity saw me cover as a Deputy Stage Manager in the rehearsal room during the early part of the process of this performance. I was required to make some of the first blocking notes and notes on possible lighting and sound cues throughout the script during the rehearsals. I also completed a small amount of props sourcing.

My role at The Engine Shed is to work alongside the venue technicians and provide support, as a local crew member for events held within the venue. My main responsibilities include supporting lighting, sound and video technicians whether this be by assisting with the un-load, get-in and strike or operating for the event. I work here on a part time bases and on a variety of events such as club nights, comedy, as well as live music.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This role is part was part of my Final Portfolio Project towards my Degree. This was a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Lincoln Cathedral, produced but the Starring Lincoln Theatre Company. The Performance ran for 2 weeks at the end of May however I started attending rehearsals in January 2022. The Performance was made up of a cast of over 150, including a live orchestra and choir. Not only did I CSM and DSM this performance but I also took on part of the role of an Assistant Stage Manager, sourcing, creating and maintaining props throughout the process.

This was a musical performance performed by the Level 1 Musical theatre BA (Hons) Degree at the University. This role saw me attending rehearsals and making/ sourcing props for the performance alongside two members of my course. On the night of the performance I was side of stage acting as a ASM and looking after the props, as well as completing stage hands tasks such as changing scenery and giving clearance calls which the SM or DSM might do. overall this performance gave me a lot of practice in different area.

My role within this performance was to work alongside two members of my course in order to make up a stage management team for actors on the BA (Hons) course at the university. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 this performance was unable to go ahead. As the production process stopped during rehearsals. Despite this I still gained experience from attending rehearsals and I was able to practice making different documentation as well as using Q-Lab. This practice will help me within further roles both in and out of my studies.

This was my final performance at Colchester institute as saw me deputy stage manage a small Shakespeare festival. This was a performance made up of lots of small scenes from Shakespeare plays put together into one performance. For this performance I attending rehearsals to make notes and on the night I was cueing the lighting sound and av operators. This performance gave me more experience and confidence in being a deputy stage manager and was a great way to end my time at the institute.

The Miracle

This performance was a small devised acting piece produced by the second year acting students. For this performance I stepped in last minute as the Deputy Stage Manager, due to the DSM not being able to make it. This had its own challenges as I had not seen this performance or the DSM book prior to this so I had very little to base off. Fortunately the DSM had a clear book and I was able to follow and cue the performance with ease, despite my concerns.

Made in Dagenham was the first musical I stage managed. The cast for this performance were the first and second year musical theatre students at the institute. This production saw me attending rehearsals, working alongside the director and managing my team. I also created documents such as schedules, rehearsal and show reports. We had a small amount of time to put this production together to ensuring we were working together to keep to the schedule and using the time we had in the best way possible was key to ensuing the production was ready in time. Overall the run of the performance went well.

Female Transport was my first main stage management role. The performance was a small play performed by the level 3 acting course at the college. For this role I needed to communicate with the director, actors and the rest of my course to ensure that everything was going running smoothly. This performance had its own challenges, for example our venue was a church. Which meant we did not have a conventional theatre space with dressing rooms, wings, or a tech box. I worked alongside members of the course and the directors to overcome these issues.

The Christmas showcase was a variety of performances produced by the other BTEC and Degree performing arts courses at Colchester Institute. These included Musical theatre, Acting and Dance. This was my first Main role during my studies and included working alongside the Stage Manager as well as the other departments in order to help produce the show. I had to communicate with the director on some occasions as well in order to make sure everything was as they liked and then relay that information to the other departments.
